| Safety is in the numbers and these Chinstrap Penguins captured by @sissebrimberg on assignment at Baily Head on Deception Island in Antarctica certainly know that. The penguins eagerly await the perfect moment to rush into the sea together in order to forage for food. Leopard Seals patrol the surf to prey on the Chinstraps. Baily Head is located on the exterior of Deception Island, which is a volcanic caldera in the South Shetland archipelago. Over 100,000 pairs of Chinstrap Penguins breed in this spot, which has been designated an Important Bird Area by BirdLife International. This photograph is actually in color! | |
